Fishing on the Big Eye 2
We had an incredible trip aboard the big eye 2 again this year in Costa Rica. The trip started out of Marina Pez Vela where we boarded the Big eye 2. With Captain Franklin and first mate Alex we headed to Drake Bay for a five day fishing excursion and some photography outings to Corcovado national park. The fishing was great as suspected but this year we were surprised at how many marlin Frankie and Alex got us into. there was but one day which we spent fishing inshore that we did not raise a marlin. On one of the days we raised 8 marlin in one morning. in the course of the trip we managed to land 3 marlin, one being 400 to 450 lbs, a 250 pound blue marlin for an angler who had never caught a marlin and another 350 pound blue on fly fishing gear. Many sailfish were caught and released but the best day was a morning of fly fishing with 18 sails raised and five landed on the fly. this was all before noon. We know this because we hooked up the 350 pound marlin on the fly at 12:30 and the next two and a half hours were spent in a battle of a lifetime. We caught many tuna which pleased the Drake Bay Wilderness lodge and their guests as we provided some fresh fish for the table fair. The inshore fishing was fast and furious for some large rooster fish, which are a great feat on a fly rod. I would highly recommend calling captain Franklin for your next fishing trip to Costa Rica and if you have the time take the 4 or 5 day package down to Drake Bay, it is an incredible experience for any angler.

    First Class Experience!!!
Franklin and Alex were amazing!!! We had 6 in our party- unfortunately the hubby got sick, but they both went above and beyond to ensure the kids and I had a great experience. Would MOST DEFINITELY recommend these guys, and we will for sure be using them for our next trip. Promise you won’t be disappointed if you spend a day with Franklin & Alex!!!

Always A Productive Outing on the Big Eye II
I have fished with Franklin and Alex many times and they always produce. I like to go full-day, offshore for “food fish” (ex. dorado, tuna, etc.) to bring back to a local family I know and they never disappoint.

In late January, we caught 4 nice-sized tuna, 2 dorado and 2 sailfish. Lots of meat to go home with.

I look forward to next winter when I plan to go back to Quepos for more fishing on the Big Eye II

Captain Franklin and Alex are awesome! Both work extremely hard to get you in the fish. We did excellent with sails and tunas everytime we fish with them. If you are thinking of a Costa Rica fishing trip look no further. The Bigeye 2 has you covered for the experience of a lifetime.
